Hi
Dracman,
Thanx
!!!! It worked. I created new config.sys and autoexec.bat files (aahh, I
can remember the good old days of tweaking until the games worked just fine in
DOS), WinME, then takes the config and autoexec away and add these things
to the registry (kinda like a new-age config/autoexec). What ever happened
to the files, I have TR 1 in great colours and picture.
Thanks
again. I'm sure I can do something similar to TR 2?
Happy
Raiding
Riaan

Raider 1.
Hello Riaan,
from the picture you attached, the error is "out of
environment space" this is controlled by a statement added to your
config.sys file located in the c root folder.
so add this line to your config.sys file-
SHELL=C:\COMMAND.COM C:\ /e:1024 /p
===================
config.sys:
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\HIMEM.SYS
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\EMM386.EXE 4096 RAM AUTO
buffers=32
files=80
DOS=UMB
SHELL=C:\COMMAND.COM C:\ /e:1024 /p
DOS=HIGH
lastdrive=z
==================
insure these lines are in-
autoexec.bat:
SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 H5 P330 T6
SET MIDI=SYNTH:1 MAP:E MODE:0
** okay since ME doe not have the config.sys and autoexec.bat
files, you will have to load these from the desktop icon for Tomb Raider.
i got rid of Windows ME and went back to 98sr2. Let me see
where you CAN put these statements so you won't get that environ- error
again. everything should work fine.
hope this helps,
dracman

Subject: Help !!!
Tomb Raider 1.
Hi Dracman,
I've tried the things you mentioned
on your site, but I'm still stumped. You probably get millions of these
emails, but I really need your help.
My situation:
I am running Windows ME. I have
an AMD 950 and a Voodoo 5 5500 Video Card. I'm running DirectX 8.0a and
the latest/last drivers that 3DFx released.
I have installed Tomb Raider 1
(plain) from the Platinum Series CD, which I bought. I ran the game and
it works fine. I then tried to use your Voodoo 5 patch as directed.
I copied the batch files to the TombRaid directory and the ovl to my system
directory. I tried the TOMB.exe you gave me, and also the updated one on
the CD of TombRaider (yours is a little smaller in size), but the game still
looks the same.
Also, I do not get the MipMap option
in the game under the spectacles as you and the TomRaider readme said.
What am I doing wrong here?
This is a screenshot of
the dos window that runs with your batch file, obviously it's not
working. I only unremmed your pause to do the screenshot.
I REALLY need your help, so I
can get the game to look spiffy. Thanks man !!!
